My 2010 has been terrible for rust. There has been no priming on some parts and others are coated with a layer of paint so thin that just wiping with a rag cuts through the paint.
At the bottom of the frame the paint has peeled off in chunks. The front fender has rust all around the edges and this is the second fender as the first did the same. The tank's paint is really thin and has white primer showing through in places. Under the seat the frame's paint is gone and its rusty...and same on lots of other bits including nuts, bolts, "stainless" parts, etc.
I'm going to have to strip and respray the whole bike before its done 15000 miles. So must for a premium brand!
Guess we've had opposite experiences. .minimal/no rust on mine frame or otherwise. It was kept outside for its first 4 years with a bike cover on, snow and all.
is it true that Dyna parts are cheaper than other bikes and are most brought in from china or is this rubbish?
Yes, all true. Dynas are rubbish. The people here get them because thats all they can afford.
They all wish they had a real Harley like a softail or bagger...
How about bad primer job...? I have about 2" of rusty rear fender just below the taillight on my Dyna. The pain looks like it just fell off.
Yeah, rear fender paint is flaking right off. Spokes and nipples rusting away. Always been stored indoors to my knowledge. There is no way the spokes are stainless.
Yea, I had to swap out both fenders last year but I rode in the winter season, not this year.
They don't make them like they used to.
I found almost new take offs with the vivid black that look fine.
I ended up cleaning, priming ready to paint and selling the original fenders on Ebay.
