Default First ride , ever

Bought a 2014 Streetbob.
Had it a few days, haven't bought a helmet yet, and finally said screw it, taking it around the block! First time on a harley and I love it! Totally different world than sportbikes and I understand the addiction now. It's killing me to not ride it right now.

So this is what I have on order

Short Shots
Quiet baffles
hardcore baffles
coil relocation/horn kit
led truwraps front signals (wrap around forks)
VIED tune
Big sucker air cleaner
Arnott Air ride
chubby knuckle handlbars
(also ordered Santee low fat bars but deciding which bar I like better when they arrive)

Things I bought already at HD
pillion seat
low backrest
curved license plate kit
blinker relocation kit
rear pegs
All for when the wife wants to take a ride. I didn't know adding backrest would require so much crap to change. I guess because it's the quick release setup. Got this all done.

So I'm gonna have a busy week !!! anyone in so calif wanna come over and help me out ?

things on the future list
new grips
powder coat some stuff black
remove front fender and put in brace
front fork lowering kit
mirrors
Lepera seat
better pegs
Few little cosmetic things here and there.

Anyone suggest any must haves ??

Also, the HD sales guy said most people are going for full face helmets now. I may get the HD one and then a half helmet for quick rides around town.
Any tips on a good fitting/priced full helmet please share.

Forget all that cosmetic stuff and do engine mods instead! Just joking!!!

Once you get out there you will know how many people are using full-face helmets. I would but I just can't stand the whistling noise at speed, or the stifling heat at traffic lights, nor the muffled sound of your pipes that you paid so much to hear!

My suggestion is you buy the half helmet first since your going to buy one anyway and ride around with that until you decide if you really want a FF helmet. Borrow one from someone and go for a ride with theirs first.

Bottom line you pay you get cheap although I have hear of a few guys liking their bell and builtwell helmets and those are not expensive at all.

Congrats on the new ride!

Ride it for a while, then you will know what/if anything you want to add on for comfort, aesthetics, sound or power.

Out our way it is very rare for HD riders to wear full face. There are more Dyna & Sporty riders with them than Softail & Touring, but still not even 5%.

That said, I switched to a Nolan Modular close to 10 years ago. I'm on my second one (first one saved my noggin when an F250 ran me over).

I got them both from Dennis Kirk, they have a good exchange policy should you get one that doesn't fit right.

Congrats on the purchase and welcome to the club of Harley ownership! I wish I would've gotten one sooner than what I did instead of a sportbike. Haha

Nice list of mods that you want and that you've already done.

I started out with a half helmet. But the wind noise and being peppered with bugs got to me finally. I went back to a full face. I'll still wear the half helmet on short trips if I'm not going to be doing a lot of riding or hard riding anyway. If I know I'm going to push it a little bit, or a day trip or something along those lines, I don't even question and grab the full face. Rain sucks. Bugs suck. I ride a lot after night too and bugs are even worse then. I bought a Speed & Strength helmet on clearance because it was last years model. $170 helmet for $70. Couldn't pass it up. Check out the sportbike shops nearby for clearance helmets like that. You might find a great deal on a helmet that you like. Good luck and enjoy the ride.

Congrats. I don't think most use full face, but I switched all of the way back. The wind noise without windshield was unbearable even with ear plugs with my Harley half helmet.

Dude, with the pipes and AC your planning, and if you can afford it, get a proper fuel manager instead of the ViEDs. Dont get me wrong I run ViEDs and really like them, but for me they're temporary until I can afford a PCV or some such. ViEDs work nice, but a proper fuel manager works even better.

Congrats on the bike and all the parts! Fair warning its an addition, once you start you can never stop...LOL. As for FF helmets I just switched to the GMAX GM54s modular. Is great, would highly recommend. I bought mine from revzilla for 135 shipped. Reviews are all over youtube, just search GMAX GM54s...
