Hey all, looking to get some new rear shocks for my 14' Street Bob. Wanting 13.5 inches in length for them. Was wondering between Works, Ohlins, Racetech, and JRI or any other opinions you all may have. Not really sure if I need the piggyback or not. My riding is somewhat aggressive and am wanting to push it more and more so if I could get some feedback on what you all have gone through and what everyone likes as far as the a shock that is taller than stock I would greatly appreciate the input. Thanks!
been happy since day one with the Works streettrackers.
if your going to ride 2 up look into the quick adjustable type.
Four years 25 thousand miles.
They recommend at 60 thousand to rebuild.inexpensive to rebuild, just send them in , near $80.
13 inch JRI's & I like them. It's hard to appreciate them fully while still on the stock front springs but I'm working up to that. It's only 1" taller than stock but it makes a significant difference in soaking up the rough stuff. Just don't expect the ride to resemble a flying carpet, you still feel connected to the road and feel the bumps. It will also lean over a little more on the sidestand, but that's an advantage in many situations, especially parking on a cambered surface.
Thanks guys, I think I have it narrowed down to either the Works Black Trackers with DRS & Tpl or the Racetech G3-S with Internal Reservoir, Rebound Adjust
Ride Height, No Hydraulic Preload. Opinions?
You've got it narrowed down to some pretty good shocks there. I ended up going with the bitubo piggybacks. I don't have much to compare them to because I went from the stock junk to them but for $800 I think they are a pretty good shock. Fully adjustable and seem to ride well. I'm sure the jri and ohlins shocks are superior but your not gonna touch those for close to $800

Howard is good to us forum members. My set, including shipping all the way to Dubai, wasn't much more than that at all.
Anyway looks like the OP has narrowed down to some decent units already, so looking forward to a ride report soon! Nothing wrong with internal reservoirs.
Just installed some 14" Works black trackers on my 2011 SB a few days and so far I would say its the best mod I have done to the bike so far. I wish I would have done it a long time ago. Put about 200 miles on them and the handling and ride is so much better than the progressives I had before. Even when riding 2 up the difference is huge. More clearence, better ride and better handling. I can still feel hard bumps, but its very soft and easy and not even close to how it was before and now it actually feels like the shock is doing all the work.
