Default 2nd new Harley

Well guys, I paid some stupid tax today, lets hope a lesson was learned by me. About a month and a half ago I bought a new 2014 1200 Sportster. All in all it was a good bike and I was looking for a new bike at a cheaper price, so instead of getting one that fit me I bought one that was less expensive. Well today I decided I wanted more comfort so I bit the bullet and traded in the sportster for a Switchback. I lost a grand in the deal witch I guess all in all it could have been worse. Once I took the Switchback out on the road the ride was TOTALLY different and better. I hope I don't have to learn the hard way again! Dave

we all do it, I did same thing, got a sportster custom because it was the only Harley I liked and I didn't want a heavy bike because it thought it wouldn't handle good, 2-1/2 years later traded in for a dyna, I put a lot of money in the sportster, like $1400 in repairs and probably just as much in mods but it was fun.. now sportsters just feel too small. nothing wrong with them though, they run strong & smooth and handle good, just wish they were bigger.

Same story here, just over a year and 11k on my 13 iron and I moved up to my 14 low rider. Best move I ever made! I rode my buddies iron a few days ago and couldn't believe the difference. I had forgotten how little that thing was and how bad it rode lol

Been there, done that.

I am now on my 4th Harley. I really wanted a Limited, but since I have a Goldwing, I didn't want another big bike so since I have owned in the past a sportster, a Ultra Classic, and a Softail Custom, I figured I would try a Dyna model this time.
It is a great bike, but just not the bike for me.
I have figured if I hold on to it for at least 2 years, by the way the value drops on the bikes, it should even out about then and I will get just as much for it then as I would if I were to sell it now.
Then it will be time for a Limited, and maybe a low mileage used one. I am tired of buying new bikes and paying full price for them and then selling them and losing so much money on them. You're not the only one who's done that.

I hope you like your new bike and ride safe.

bought a sportster custom, kinda lost a grand when i traded it in, but i did my trade a year after owning the sporty. i put 8,000 miles on it before trading it, so i i got my money's worth. but its called an impulse buy, we buy before doing the research because we see it looks cool and just want to ride. the sporty was a great one person bike, but i like having a passenger and i'm 6'1 210, so that extra weight of a chick with a phatt a** took away from the handeling. so i got the super glide.

It happens to the best of us.

For me, I could've afforded a higher price tag bike, but after riding a Heritage, I took out the Street Bob and I was sold. I love the feel. It's not as smooth a ride as a Heritage but I like feeling more in tune with the road.

Enjoy the new ride.
