Default key question?

The key that I had with my Sportster was flat and cut on both sides. My new key for my Switchback is round? Is there any reason behind that? Just wondering. Thanks, Dave

Could it be something like we turn the ignition on and remove the key? On a Sporty, they stay in and won't pull out until you turn the ignition off.

Maybe something to do with its on the console not down by the engine! Makes for a clean finish?

I dunno.

I think they are a much more shallow and the lock more compact. Also Touring bikes with the locking gas cap uses the tubular key which is low-security so can be opened with any tubular Harley bike key (I know, I have done it)

It's because if they gave you a flat key, it would not fit the round hole on the switchback.
