Default New Wide Glide - exhasut help...

Just put a down payment on a new 2014 Wide Glide. I was originally going to wait until spring and get a 48, but they had some nice deals and financing on the 14 Wide Glides I couldn't help myself.

Anyway, I got the White one with orange flames. I need some help pickling out an exhaust. Normally, I like the blacked out look, but on this bike, I'm kinda diggin' the chrome.\

Here are just some random images i pulled off Google images...

Here is the bike:
Excuse my crude photo shop skills as i wanted to see what it would look like without the back seat.

I honestly like the looks of the Big Radius pipe on this bike, but I just hate how they sound, plus it seems like everyone around here has this pipe.

Ive had a Street Bob with the Python pipe here and it sounded really nice, fit and finish was perfect. I think they are made by Vance and Hines, but for some reason, they sound totally different than the Big Radius.

Second, Ive always kinda liked the Bassani Pro Streets, they sound nice, and I've heard the fit and finish is great, but I was a little worried about them dragging.

And lastly, I like these pipes. I'm not sure what kind they are but I think they are Sampsons. How is the quality and sound of Sampson pipes? I don't see many of them around here.

I don't like the 2 into 1 look so much, so any other ideas about some chrome pipes, or which of the above do you guys think would look best on that particular bike.

Thanks in advance.

Very purty bike, and it's going to be darned hard to improve on the appearance of the stock pipes, in my opinion.

I wouldn't keep the pipes totally stock either (because I want a Harley to sound like a Harley), so maybe there are some "slipon" mufflers you could investigate?

D & D Fatcat is what will give you the best results over all.

I'm not doubting you on the Fatcat, but I just can't bring myself to like the looks of it.

I'm not all that concerned with power outpu; its not really what i bought the bike for. I just came off a 160hp bike, so the wide glide isnt going to be fast to me no matter what i do to it.

I am just concerned with what would look and sound the best on said bike...and to break away a little from the big radius or short shot look.

That being said, I ran across these and really like how they look on a Wide Glide.

The only other Rinehart exhaust I have ever seen or heard was on a 2 into 1 model on a Street Bob in 2006 and it was pretty quiet sounding.

Those look like the Bassani Firesweeps. These were the pipes I first put on my new Wide Glide earlier this summer. They were moderately loud at idle, didn't seem loud at all at cruise speed, but when cracking the throttle they got quite loud! The baffles are welded in, and since I like to experiment with exhaust/baffles I thought I would try something different, so I put on a set of Cobra Speedsters. I played around with different baffles and ended up with a setup I thought sounded most like a Harley should. Recently my exhaust got damaged so the Bassanis are going back on. Although I prefer the sound of the Cobra a bit more, I would say the Bassanis gave me a bit more power/torque. They are also very light and easy to install, and probably have less chance of cracking or breaking mounting components.

I think your white bike would look great blacked out. Also, V&H Big Shots sound good, plus it gives a close performance of 2-1 exhaust.

Ah, I wasnt sure of the brand but they do have that old school look I think would go good with the Wide Glide.

How do you rate the fit and finish of the Bassani pipes? Are they as quality as Vance and Hines?

Thanks

It seems like Ive blacked out every bike ive ever owned, so I was thinking of keeping a little chrome this time around for something different.

I think the Pythons are the identical pipe as the Big Shots minus the end caps. I had them on my Street Bob and they are one of my top picks.

I would say the fit and finish are fine. I like the fact the the ends going into the cylinder head are tapered to match, unlike the Cobras that had more of a flat end, and it was tough getting them to fit without damaging the exhaust gasket.....not sure of how the V&H are in that way.
