Was taking the experienced motorcycle course today and dropped the bike while braking. I probably should've skipped the class as i wasn't really in the mood to be there. I got lucky in that I was able to control the fall to some degree. The bike has a broken clutch lever. No tank damage and only scratch was to derby cover and can barely see it. I am fine with the exception of bruised ego. I guess it was inevitable in that I have heard that there are those that have dropped a bike and those that haven't "yet".
My first time came earlier this summer with the FJR I sold prior to picking up my Superglide. Tried to put it up on the center stand on a slope and dropped it. No damage to the tank (thank God), but $700 worth of new tupperware.
Welcome to the club. No big deal and good news the bike is ok (I lucked out too, after a hugely fubar drop, no scratches no damage and just a big azzz bruise on my leg)
Dropped it three times, once in the front yard, once in the driveway, and once in a motel parking lot in front of a bunch of folks...ego bust. I also had to lay it down in a light rain when a cager jumped lanes at a traffic signal and I got down hard on both brakes...not too smart on my part. The engine guard minimized the damage all four times. After I laid it down, I had to replace both rear turn signals and the left highway peg on the engine guard. You cannot see the scrape on the derby but I am replacing it anyway...
I was livid with myself when I dropped my 2014 after having it a month. dropped it to the right side, and in gavel getting ready to leave work. I think the gravel/ grass saved me some damage. only damage is two minor scratches on the exhaust heat shield, little burr on the front brake lever, and a slight tear in the end of the throttle grip.
