My point is that it ain't always about looks...what works for you might not for the next guy...I don't think that crash bars make a bike ugly, but I think 12+ inch ape hangers are just plain fugly on any bike and are more useless than **** on a boar hog...and are dangerous to boot. At least a crash bar serves a practical purpose and does not compromise the safe handling of the bike for any rider. But that is just my opinion...and we all got them, don't we?

I live in the Free State of Texas and I wear a helmet...sometimes. I usually wear jeans and not shorts because I really hate burning my leg...and T-shirts in the summer because it is Africa hot down here. I prefer my old steel-toed Navy surplus flight deck boots over sneakers for long rides but it ain't that big of a deal for the short ride to work, and I only wear leather when it is cold...

I use a crash bar because I know for a fact from experience that it will give you just a little more time to get your leg out from under a 700+ pound bike if and when you lay it down, not to mention saving you a few hundred more bucks in damage to your ride...so, if a $200 crash bar will save me a $1100 tank with a custom paint job, a busted motor mount or damaged engine, and mean the difference between a broken leg or trashed knee and walking away, then I think I can live with a few folks worried about how it looks to them.

Peace, out
