I like the look of a Velocity Stack too. We use to run them back in the 70's and early 80's. But rebuilds were a whole lot cheaper back then too. Today I wouldn't even consider running without a filter element.
Kuryakyn makes a good looking breather that's basically a velocity stack with a K&N Filter Element. I don't think they're available in black, but you could always paint or powder coat it.

The air filter is more important than the oil filter.
Do yourself a favor, toss the stack into the scrap bin and install a proper air filter.
