Default S#%! Ordered wrong Easy Brackets :-(

Sooo I was super excited about getting my jpcycles order this afternoon.. I opened the box and sure enough I ordered the wrong thing. Instead of brackets for 2006+ dyna I got the one for 2006+ with detachable backrest. Crap! :-( now I can't put them on because these dang bolts are way too long. Does anybody have the shorter bolts and wants to trade maybe?:-) I really don't want to cut these...

Go to the hardware store and get some new bolts.
Bring one of the bolts along to ensure you get the same thread.

If you go to Ace, or Lowes, or Home Depot, they have specialty bolts in cabinets, you should be able to find just what you need. You may have to trim some length, so get an extra nut to chase the threads with if you have to cut.
Get stainless hardware so you don't have to worry about rust.

How long are the button heads - I can't find 2 1/2's locally.
Are they 2 1/2 - 3/8 coarse thread?
Let me know if you want to sell them after you get the ones you need.
Thanks, George

Yup that's exactly what they are - I will post a pic later... Hmm 2" or 2.5" I gotta double-check. Lowes, home depot.. Ace hardware - nobody has these at all... Will try the stealer to tomorrow..

Ok - I found the 2 inch ones at True-Value Hardware but not the 2 1/2's.
I'm using the 2 1/2's for the rear quick detach HD stuff (no bags, just sissy bar and rack) I need the buttons to save some room under the fender. With the older dynas Like mine (2001) I use the buttons to save some room for a 160 tire.
Let me know how you make out and if you want to send them to the east coast. Thanks, George

Best thing to use on the older Dynas like our are T-Nuts, you end up with a flush finish under the fender. I get mine in Stainless steel at Lowes.

Hog- Great idea. Looks like you counter sunk them into the struts. I could squeeze a 170!

chi45cken - the bolts I have are only 1 1/2. So if you have 2"s that would be great. I went on a local quest today and was only able to find 2" with a find thread and no-one had an acorn to match.

The way run them is the button-head is under the fender with an acorn or bungee-cord nut outside (maybe that was obvious).
