Default Charging Issue

Aloha All,,

I've read the stickies on how to test the charging system but at the moment I don't have a multimeter. So my question is, when I connect the battery cables I get a very small spark. The battery has been tested and is good. If the bike sets a few days it drains the battery. Your best opinion. Regulator or stator?

Mahalo much

My hunch would be regulator. Unplug it and see if situation changes.

Just guess and buy parts until you get the right one, at least you won`t have wasted your money on a 20 dollar multimeter...

Seriously... spend the 20 bucks on the meter, another 75 or so for a factory service manual, and follow the troubleshooting process in the manual.

There are also several procedures for testing the charging system on this forum.

Plenty of folks here to walk you through it, let us know when you have the meter.
