My 2012 FLHTK will periodically display the Battery lite illuminated, and the Engine lite illuminated at the same time. When this happens, the displayed battery voltage drops from about 14.6 vdc, to about 11.5 vdc. After riding for a few minutes (the amount of time seems to vary from as much as 10 minutes, to as short as a couple of minutes), the lights go out, and the voltage returns to about 14.6 vdc.
I suspect the VR (voltage regulator), but when I took the bike to the Harley dealer the first time that this occurred, while still under warranty, they couldn't find anything wrong. Now, a couple of years later, it is happening again, but now, it happens almost each time that I ride it.
Are there any suggestions from others that have had similar occurrences with their bike? What did you do to correct the problem?
