Fishyfish,
Welcome to the forum.
For folks to be able to help they need to know what year and model bike you have. Also explain what codes you had and if you have current codes. Your title says high voltage problem and you replaced the VR, tell us what led you to believe the VR was bad. Sometimes high voltage can overcharge and ruin the battery. You can charge the battery and take it to a parts store and have it load tested to determine if it's good.
good luck

Since you replaced the VR. Take the battery out and take it to a parts store and have it tested.
