Help with Accessory Fuse
Bike is a 2000 Heritage Softail, Carbed. When i turn Ign. Switch my accessory fuse blows. I removed gas tank and disconnected all elec. connections, disconnected ECM connections underseat on rear fender, and disconnected everything under dash except ignition switch. Was going to do the old process of elimanation. After disconnecting everything i could find I turned on Ignition and the accessory fuse blew. Would the Ignition Switch itself cause this, there is only 3 wires to it Battery, Accessory, Lights. Also the only lights that would work was my spotlights, on-off by toggle switch. Really need some Help Please.

I think the ACC fuse powers the brake light, turn signals, speedometer, and horn. If you are blowing the ACC fuse it should be one of these. Remember that the power goes to both the right (brake switch & turn signal) & left (horn & turn signal) hand controls. The ACC power wire is usually Orange/White stripe. Don't forget the rear brake light switch. Post what you find.

Under the front of seat there are two grounding points to frame, on the left side there is two (2) ring terminals, one of them is blowing the accessory fuse. Traced it best i could and there is a wire going forward and one to the rear. If i connect it the fuse blows. Put all connections back together and getting power pretty much to everything but lights. Tested that wire and it has current going throw it? didnt thing ground wires had current, o/w wire in acc. fuse panel has current, both read 12.5. Still Puzzled.

I don't have a wiring diagram for your bike. The closest I can find is for a 2001 softail. On that diagram it show 2 ground studs. One stud has 4 wires. The other has 2 wires. It looks like one of those wires is the ground for gas gauge & speedometer. The second is for the neutral switch, rear lights, headlamp, and front turn signals.
Maybe if you leave the problem ground off and replace the fuse you can tell what is not working.
Another place to look would be the headlamp socket. Also usually toward the front of the rear fender there is a connector for the rear lights. You can unplug that to eliminate the wiring harness that runs under the fender. If you figure it out please post.

Taking a Break. This is what ive found. When you get into the bundle of wires under the fuse block that wire is becomes 3 wires. One of them ive traced to the starter relay fuse. I can ground it without fuse in and bike will turn over, if its not grounded, nothing at on or start switch. The other 2 keep going towards the right side of bike. Im thinking they are not going to rear lights, I disconnected that plug in that goes throw fender. Dont know where there going. Yet.
