Be wary of replacement LED bulbs, as they tend to be a lot bigger than stock filament bulbs and don't provide a decent focused beam, they may also cause dazzle to oncoming traffic. High output or very bright halogens don't suffer from that problem, especially if you buy well known brands.

LED replacement bulbs/globes are nowhere as bright as LED lights.
Bulbs/globes are reflected whereas LED light fittings are projected.
If you choose LED, replace the whole fitting not just the bulb.
