Hey guys, kinda new here, been stalking for a long time. Here's my questions. I have a 2017 Softail and I want to replace the factory headlight bulb with a LED bulb and the fog lamps with LED's. All the info I am finding here is from around 2011 - 2014. Are there any newer bulbs? Does Harley sell these? I'm not wanting to spend $500 on a Daymaker.
Don't bother with any of these drop in replacements. I read all the posts here dissuading riders from doing it but tried it anyway. The LED I bought came from a a bike parts seller that I'll leave unnamed. It was fan cooled, came with various spacers to adjust the focal point. No matter what I tried I always ended up with a dead zone directly in front and light off to the sides. Yes it was way brighter than a halogen bulb, but really not usable light. Save your money.Either upgrade to a lamp like a daymaker,or go with a high wattage halogen and relays. The reflector assembly in our bikes is designed for halogen, not LED. I still haven't decided on which and have reinstalled the stock bulb.
Im in the same boat. The factory low beam isnt bright but puts out a awesome wide usable beam. It was designed for the bike but Harley is in the accessorie market and only sell the sealed unit. The LED drop ins are brighter than stock but not good useable light. Ill ride with my bright on when need more light or to be seen until I have avaiable funds.
If youre looking for a quality headlamp replacement, come check our lighting options at Custom DynamicsŽ. Although our headlamps are not the cheapest youll find on the market, our headlamps come with a Lifetime LED Warranty!
