Just got cams/bigger pistons put in , I got the bike back and now taking it easy for 500 miles keeping it under 3500 rpm.
Noticed my bike was getting harder and harder to crank over sounded like battery was dying; went out for a ride the other night and it finally died due to low idle was pretty cold out as well. Jumped it off and rode it home , lights were very dim. radio wasn't working etc.
Left it on the battery tender all night and it charged up fully.
Rode it to work then back home for lunch. Noticed coming from lunch the batter volts were dying dropped down below 8 volts. Then completely died and couldn't start it again right now i have it on the charger again any ideas?
disconnect battery and check volts, sounds like you have a dead cell. Assuming 2 volts per cell you would expect to see your 12 volt battery reading 10 volts. If you have 2 cells shorted you could lose 4 volts or show 8 volts.
To confirm charging system is working (after you have a 12 volt battery confirmed) start the bike and check for 13-14 volts with your multimeter
It honestly sounds like a charging system problem. Check the stickies at the top of this forum section. Still, check the battery, but I'd be very hesitant, based on your description, just replacing the battery without checking the charging system out.
