Yes it's worth it if your battery sits idle for weeks/months at a time. If the bike is used regularly, you probably don't need one.

Keeping an acid battery 100% charged at all times can double, even triple it's life...low voltage speeds up sulfation which is what kills batteries.

I own three tenders, if something isn't going to be started for 24hrs or more, I hook up the tender. Don't buy the cheapy sears diehard model, nearly ruined a battery...was outputting 17.5v to a battery that was already fully charged...numerous complaints in the reviews.

I LOVE this tender...I had a battery that would not hold more than 90% charged...a month on this tender and it now holds 100% charged...saved the battery! It's cheaper at Amazon.
