Stator?

You really cannot tell by looking at it that it is bad. Does appear it's been pretty hot from working wide open maybe? Appears maybe a few windings have shorted to each other and melted insulation...Those two legs with the extra insulating material are the solder connection for the three three-phase leads. That heavy copper wire has coats of insulating material since they should not be touching each other electrically. It's very thin to save space. Then they are dipped again after winding.
Heat is the villain here. My stator in perfect working order. Very similar looking with the two legs with extra insulation.
