Default Street Bob electrical issue

So I’ve had a 2007 Street Bob for about a year now, and just recently I’ve had a power issue on start up. I have power when I turn the key, but when I try to start the ignition the power completely goes out. If I hit the battery cover the power comes back on, but it will cut back off when I hit the ignition switch. I can occasionally get it to start up if the seat and battery cover are off. Since the battery is new and has been fully charged, my initial thought was a short in the wiring, but I haven’t been able to trace anything down in the battery wiring so far. Any thoughts on where I should be focusing my efforts?

Clean up the battery connections real good and make sure they are tight. Check both ends of the battery cables.

check grounds
make sure the connection at the starter is good since most machines jump power off that connection for system
sometimes when you run a high inrush current through a wire, it will move and if the termination is iffy, loose power, a good smack might travel the wire and reset

Bump the battery and power returns. Sounds like you need to check your battery cables.

A member use to tell of someone who had a similar problem and discovered the pos cable had corrosion under the insulation and caused the same problem. Check your cables and ohm them out.

Default Update

I swapped out the battery cables, and the originals had indeed corroded. Starts up just fine now every time. Thanks to everyone who responded!
