Help

2014 heritage softail I was riding and the battery light come on almost didn't make it home before it died put it on a charger now when it gets hot the battery light comes back on

At the top of this Electrical section you will find two Stickies telling you how to check your charging system. They should help identify if you have a charging problem and what is causing it. Otherwise I suggest you find a local indy and visit him, as it should only take a short while to identify what is causing your problem.

Charge the battery, take it to a shop and have it load tested.

Clean all battery connections.

Perform charging system check.

I know that 2012 and 2013 voltage regulators had issues of just crapping out. Did you check for codes? and I would suggest getting a factory service manual it'll guide you through the complete procedure... Did a job on a friend's 2013 road King believe the code was PO562.

How do I check for codes put new battery new regulator on it and the voltage won't go up the battery is at 12.5 drops when I start it jumps back up
