I purchased a luggage rack for my 17 SG that has led stop and running light from my HD dealer and he said there is a plug under the left side cover to plug this in. I didnt get no plug with the kit just has three wires from the rack light and under that cover on the bike the only plug I see is a red white black that is plugged into a dummy that does go anywhere. Anyone familiar with this that can chime in?
Unless I'm thinking of something else, you should be plugging inline of the main lighting plug, which is under the seat, rearward of the ECM/Battery caddy. It should give you a pigtail to plug in the luggage rack, that you can position in a way on the edge of the seat, to allow you to unplug it, without having to remove the seat. If the wiring from the luggage rack is not already in the connector (it comes with just ends installed so it can be fished through the luggage rack), it is installed Blue - Cavity 1, Red/Yellow - Cavity 2, Black - Cavity 3
What the dealer is likely (and incorrectly) referring too is an auxiliary power connector (black 4 pin connector) that's nested above the data link connector (grey, 6 wire connector). What you described, being plugged into nothing, is the security siren connector.
