Default Speedometer issues

Recently has my speedometer damaged by a deer. My wife ordered me a new one but it didn’t come with a data transfer cable. I tried to get one from a local Harley store and they said my bike didn’t need one. Just to drive it 30 miles and it would start working. The speedometer only would say “no cal”. Didn’t register mph or tach. Didn’t sound right. After 30 miles still did nothing. Went and bought a new speedometer/ tach from Harley and tried to transfer the data. Said “no cal” for about 3 seconds and then said “no spd” and did nothing else. Is there a way for me to get the data to transfer or is the one being damaged causing this or me riding without out one hooked up correctly the culprit. I appreciate any help I can get with this. Thanks

Put your original speedo back on the connector then plug the data cable in to the bike and the new speedo. That should transfer from old to new and all should be well.
