lithium batte3ry
I have a 2016 Road Glide Ultra. Last September, I decided to install a A8H Lithium Battery, figuring my old lead free some day, may leave me stranded. Over the winter months, I had the Harley Lithium battery tender hooked up. I have been out riding a half a dozen times this spring, and no problems with starting my bike. However, I will say, it never has seem to start quite as quickly as my old lead free. So, I have not been on the bike for two weeks, and it was just in my garage, with no battery tender on it. I was supposed to go on a riding event yesterday, sure as hell, bike was dead. I tested the battery, and it was around 2.5 V. I cannot think of anything left on to drain it. I tried charging it, but now reading it, if below 3 V, it is not going to take a charge. I have a friend last year that had a similar issue, and found out the battery was defective. I did try starting it, and just had an awful grinding nose coming out of the starter, not just a clicking but a click-grinding sound. So, I through my old lead-acid back in the bike. I charged it up, but after all night, it is around 11.6V. My user instructions on my battery tender, which has a switch for either lead-acid or Lithium, it says a fully charged lead-acid is at 12.9 V. I tried starting this morning, and it almost wanted to turn over for just a second, than went back to the grinding sound, but not quite as bad.
I am hoping I do not have a starter issue. Pretty sue the old lead-acid is not going to take any more of a charge. I am hoping if I bring back my Lithium, and get a new one (they state there is a one year warranty on this battery), that will solve my issues. Any thoughts on my starting issues, please let me know.
Thanks so much
