Exclamation 1997 Fatboy went dead

Hi all;

I'm new to this forum, but happy to be here! Three days ago I rode to a friends house without issue. I went to start it up to head home, and the lights went on, but when I hit the starter everything went dead. It lights up on the accessory setting, but dead on ignition side. Battery good, leads tight & clean. I can't find anything in the manual or online so far. Help please!

How did you determine that the battery is good?

I just used a simple tester light. The trickle also says it's at 100%

A test light will tell you that the battery has enough power to illuminate the test light, nothing more....

The first thing to do is charge the battery, then take it to an auto parts store and have them load test it.

If the battery is more than 3 years old, replace it.

Dan - I need to thank you. It was the battery. I misread my trickle when I connected it, and had never seen a battery just take an instant catastrophic dump.

It happened to me about 30 years ago on my Softail, I was visiting Antietam National Battlefield.

I had stopped and started the engine about a dozen times that morning, then got on the road.

I stopped to open a map and when I tried to start the engine the battery was dead, the headlight wasn`t even dim.
