So I wired in turn signals on the front of my 05 sportster and when I turned it on there was a flash from the headlight and it started blinking with the turn signal but wont stay on only blinks same with taillight Ive started tracking the wires looking for a short but nothing yet . am I missing something Or should I just run new power line for it?
thanks in advance
John
Look for a different wire to power or ground your headlight, you've made a mistake there. Blinking means you have an intermittent connection.
Prolly mixed one of your wires.
I'm not sure on your year, maybe a short and a circuit breaker is tripping and self resetting.
Disconnect the lights you just installed and start over.
In my experience the last thing you touched is where you screwed up.
How did you run the signal wiring now? Did you use a schematic f/ your bike? What type of signals/manufacturer?
Pretty much seems like you tapped signals into headlight wiring (somehow)...you can't wire a bike like a car...don't go tapping into whatever wire has power as this is your result.
IMO - pull what you have, get a service manual (w/ schematics) and wire it properly.
Ok let me clear this up when I got the bike there were no front turn signals on it the wires were there but no hardware I was given stock turn signals to mount for inspection purposes so I wired it properly now when I turn on the left blinker only the headlight and taillight flash with the turn signal and when its off so are the lights brake light still works just no running lights.fuses are good .guys im a mechanic but this one has me boggled.
