Diagnosing CAN-BUS Issues Using Speedo Indicator Light?
My bike is throwing U0001 and U0156 errors (CAN-BUS and loss of speedo comms). I've read a few threads here regarding CAN-BUS issues and it seems like most are related to wire faults or connector issues. My main question at the moment is if the error indicator light on the speedo will toggle on and off as you mess with the wiring. For example, if I leave the bike ignition on and in Run and begin probing around and moving wiring and such, will the error light go out if/when the wire fault reconnects? Let's say I want to dig out all of the wiring that's stuffed down in the steering head/backbone to see if there's a fault in there. If I leave the bike ignition on and in Run, as I pull on that wiring, if the short reconnects, will the error light go out?
I'm wondering if I watch that error light while messing with wires if the error light will be a live indication of whether and when I've happened upon a wiring fault.
2013 Dyna, Dakota gauge, ThunderMax ECU.
Thanks,
Chris
