Hyper flash issue after installing a load equalizer. Help!
I just installed LED signals all the way around on my 01 RK. I was having a hyper flash issue along with my security light coming on. I did some research and bought a Custom Dynamics load equalizer. It takes more blinks for the hyper flashing to start but it still happens. I need some help. Since the front signals are also running lights could that be the problem being that its constantly reading low signal from the front running lights now that theyre LED? Do you need an equalizer for the front signals at all? I want to get this figured out as soon as possible. Thanks in advance!
@BigPimpin97 I have moved this thread from the Forum Issues section to the Electrical/Lighting/Alarmsection as you will get better responses to your question in this section. The Forum Issues section is for raising any issues you are having with the Harley Davidson Forum website software, not motorcycle related technical questions.
If you haven't already, I would try contacting Custom Dynamics to see if they can help. From what I have read on this forum they are quite helpful - there is a contact section at the bottom of their website which includes a support phone number and the hours they work
You need the resistance in the circuit to match the original incandescent lights. And it needs to match when the circuit is at working temperature. Depending on the type of resistors you added, you may at working temperature be low or high.
There 3 types of resistors. However, never heard on here your issue with Custom Dynamics. They make quality products.
The running light on front is probably not going thru the signal light box. And yes, you need the resistance of front and back bulbs
The system is designed to alert you a bulb is burnt out. It does it by reading the resistance.
Call Custom Dynamics.
PS.. welcome to the HDFORUM.
Got this from an old thread here..
Harleys (pre-2011) when switching to LEDs, you typically need 6-ohm to 8-ohm, 25-watt to 50-watt load resistors installed on each side. These resistors create a parallel load, mimicking the power draw of original bulbs (approx. 21 watts) to prevent fast, broken-bulb signaling
By any chance are these led in your original light sockets or did you switch the whole signal light body. You may have the wires switched.
