I know there is a ton of threads but i can't find an answer.
I swapped out the OEM front signals with 2 wire 12v bullets. The problem i am having it that the daytime running lights are out but the blinkers and hazards work.
I tried grounding the extra stock black ground wire but no luck. The security key indicator stays on now too.
What can i do with the ground and did i short an indicator somewhere?
Check the bulb, you have 2 filiments. One for signal lights and hazards, the other for daytime runnung lights. It's worth a try, sometimes it's the simplest things to look at first. Welcome from Surrey B.C. CANADA
The bullets have 2 black wires (not colored) one to the hot purple and one to blue running which don't seem to be working. I'm not concerned about the running lights but the security fault indicator worries me. Don't want to be on the road and lose power. I capped and connected the ground to the bike. Not sure where i went wrong.
Not sure on your bike but on mine i believe the blue wire is run, purple or violet is turn signals. Possibly you have the wires coming from the new lights hooked up backwards thus causing issue. The black is ground and shouldn't matter as lights should ground thru the frame. Unless you did all this with battery and power on and touched a live wire to the frame and shorted something out.
another possiblility is that the lights you bought are not running lights and that they are ment to be hooked up as only signals with your black ground wire and your purple wire and what your doing is feeding positive in both ends and that is causing the lights not to work and the security code.
the new ones came with single wire so i replaced them with new pigtails to accommodate for running/blinker. can you re-set the power to the blinkers to eliminate the short?
Single wire would be no running lights. how did you make it two wire? Possibly something not right there or somewires touching as for resetting the security iam not sure and hopefully didn't short something out in your turn secruity module.
