Default Turn signal problem

I have a 1999 Softail and have decided to change my turn signals, both front and rear. I purchased Arlen ness bullet style dual filament marker lights (2). I wired them up and tested with the bike not running. The lights worked fine. The rear lights blink when they should and the front lights blink when they should. The running lights also function as they should. I decided to test also with the bike running. I found the same results, all operating correctly at normal idle. However, when I rolled the throttle to a higher RPM and tested the turn signals, they stoped blinking and remained solid until the RPMs lowered and as the RPMs lowered the lights started blinking again. I tested the lights while riding on the street with the same results. The lights functioned properly while at a stop sign but stoped blinking and remained solid when I raised my speed.

Any ideas?..................

Are they LED's? If so maybe a Voltage Equalizer? As get more Charging Voltage with higher RPM's unless, Possibly at higher RPM's the Vibration is a problem for a tight connection or ground.. Sorry don't have an easy fix.. Maybe someone else will .. When Rerouted my Sportster Turn Signals went with LED's and had the same problem .. although mine did it all the time Running at Idle, Bike off, or doing 70 MPH Had to put a new equalizer in.. Good Luck with this and curious of the outcome ..

Sorry, I forgot to add these are not LED bulbs. The bulbs I am using are a regular bayonet style filament push in and turn bulb. There are two bulbs for each marker light. One bulb for running lamps; white wire and one bulb for turn signal; red wire. Only two wires come out of the new marker lights red and white no ground. In the rear marker light I only connected the turn signal bulb red wire and left the white running lamp wire unconnected because I only had two wires in the back. One wire was the turn signal wire and the other was a ground.

Just a shot in the dark here .. Take it off the kick stand or put a board/plastic whatever under the stand and try it at Idle/Off .. If quits working then, definitely a ground situation... Also giving a bump up with this reply maybe someone else has a better idea..

Default Right Turnsignal does not flash

I hope someone can help me of has experienced this same problem I am having a problem with my 1997 Dyna FXDS My problem is a little different in the fact that I have voltage on both contacts in the right turn signal bulb receptical. If the turn signal switch is off (deactivated, I lose power on the purple wire/contact as it should be, but if the switch is on, then I have power on both contacts. The problem is that the right signal just comes on steady bright and does not flash when the signal switch is activated. The really weird part is that both sides flash as they should when you put on the emergency flashers. I am changing out the front turn signals, but I have had this problem since I bought this bike, it is the only thing wrong with it. Help me so I don't have to go to the dealer, don't want to have to mortgage the house. Thanks to anyone who can help. Chicago Bob. Vista Calif 92084

Default Harley Dyna glide right turn signal problem

Sure would love to get someone to answer my posts.
I am having the same problems with my '97 Dyna Glide. I have had this problem since owning the bike. The right signal lights brightly when the turn signal button is depressed, but the filiment just burns bright, there is no flashing. I have read the contacts in the bulb receptical and with the putton depressed I have 12VDC on both contacts. When I release the button (I am not holding the button down just momnetarily depressing the button. If I hit the emergency flashers, both sides blink, but if I only slect the right turn signal, the flashing element just stys on constant and bright. I live in southern claifornia, so if there is someone near by, I will pay anyone $100 to get this lousey circuit working, I love Harleys, but their electrics is archaic, I am an electrician by trade and I can't figure out this Byzantine POS. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide, I have already disconnected the plug underneath the seat and cleaned it out with contact cleaner and checked voltages. I have power on the blue wire, but I don't seem to have power on the purple wire, these are the running lights and the flasher contacts at the bilb receptical. Let me know what you think, I'f you can fix this over the computer, I will still pay the $100. Thanks again, I sure hope someone comes back onto this forum, it seems like a ghost town here. Thanks Chicago Bob.

Thumbs up

here's my thoughts on everyones bad wiring..............tear it out and rewire everything so that it is done right. you guys and your fiddling around with old wires .......probably green copper by now.

and you don't need to use the 12volt crap that draws power from your system like badlands crap and load equalizers....etc.... just redo everything in led here read what I did
