Default turn headlight off

I would like to be able to switch off my headlight sometimes while riding. Has anyone done this and can give pointers?

Default No light?

Not a very good idea. Most all states require it. I am sure there must be a few like with no helmets law that do not. However if you forget to turn it on and someone pulls out in front of you and hits you and can prove thru witness you could actually loose in court. Just like speeding. Do 60 in a 35 and your involved in an accident caused by someone else you could easily loose in court.
