A few years ago I wanted something better for the back of my Fatboy.
I purchased a smoked brake lense on eBay for $20+.
other parts from a local Radio Shack (no Fry's Electronics in San Antonio)
LED's were from superbrightled.com purchased 60 of them.
check out previous thread for street glide light.
spent around 30 bucks for what i didn't already have.
This this was really bright and annoying at night and pretty good as well in the day time. built about 6 of these for friends including a tombstone light for another brother (he wanted to be different).
Cep that is some pretty serious talent you have there. AS cheap as you can make those you ought to be able to make some decent coin off e-bay. Thanks for sharing that.
Thanks SIU 96, I'm not out to make any money, I was just bored one day after an office conversation and a bet about LED "bulbs" from pepboys, what the dealer had and what i could make. the first one took a bit, but i learned after drawing it all down. i still got a load of crap afterwards, i wasn't trying to prove anything, they still liked their LED bulbs better, oh well, to each his own.
xwhyz, i used the resistors because the LED brake light has 3 circuits (series/parallel) and is also dual intensity, it's something i learned in school and was familiar with. you probably could use a load equalizer instead of resistors, but i haven't tried that yet. i don't know how much a load equalizer runs, i've never needed one but resistors were inexpensive. i guess that's my next project and see if it works.
if anyone wants to make their own lights, i'll help them out if they want.

I have a 2011 FXDWD with rear turn signal relocation for the saddle bags...I added a cheap LED center light (JP Cycles) on the bottom of the plate mount...spliced it to the wiring on the rear HD lights/signals. Works perfectly for the brake and running light functions....also blinks on one turn signal....right one id I remember correctly....but not the other. I would like to either have it blink on either turn signal or not at all for the turns. No matter how I wire the thing I get the same results more or less. I there some way to fix this with resisters? Any advice would be most appreciated.
