Cool Front and rear blinker lights

Hi,
my blinkers stopped working last season so I let it go till today.
I started my 97 sportster 1200c and smelled something burning. I melted my battery terminal and the load equalizer. I ordered a new load EQ but I don't think I need it. I was told the load EQ was for LED aftermarket blinkers. I have regular stock bulbs on my bike now that I installed. The old rear lights were not LEDs. The front were the Kuryakyn mirrors with the blinkers in the mirrors. I'm not sure if that's wy the guy that owned it befor me installed the load EQ.

I put a new battery in and ran it without the load equalizer and the blinkers worked but the back ones blink brighter tan the front. The front blink slow and dim. Any ideas what can cause that? Do I need the load EQ?
Thanks,
Jim

I'm having a problem like that as well. I helped a brother of mine putting led signals on his bike and we are not used to the new stuff and did not realize we needed and equalizer. So we hooked up the old lights and now the back left running light don't work and the right side signals are brighter and don't blink. So if you get an answer with you problem could you send me a message? Thanks

easy way to test it is disconnect the turn signal mirrors and see what happens. I think you're likely to find that you do need the load equalizer because of the mirrors which is usually the case on anything you're adding LEDs to prior to 06 i think is the correct year.
