Gearcase Cover Hot
Hey all, this is my first shovelhead, so please forgive my lack of knowledge.
Anyway...I went on a 30 mile trip with it today, and just happened to touch the gearcase cover probably 5 minutes after I shut the engine off, and it was still too hot to touch! Is this normal, or should I be worried?

There's alot of friction in there plus it's on an internal combustion engine. Heat travels. It's physics.

Ha! Well yeah I know the engine will be hot, but when the gear case cover is skin melting hot after the rest of the engine has cooled down, it just doesn't seem right to me. BUT like I said, new to shovelhead and V-twins for that matter so I'm still figuring out their habits! Fluids are good.
