If you get someone like Scott to do that work, so that everything matches, you should be more than pleased with the final results! If you do this piece-meal, here and there, you are more likely to be disappointed. You will get along much quicker in resolving this if you pick up the phone and call Scott.

Default Still need more Comp...

You would still need to bump your static compression up to at least 10.8:1 for that cam to work...

I had the EV-27 in my '95 EG. was very disappointed with bottom end ... it was a dog ... until 3 grand - then it wanted to jump out from under you. Several calls to Andrews yielded no help at all. It had a Mikuni carb & crane ignition. Got SE heads and it finally started running like it should.

Chanse,

Not intending to be condescending, but you should really do some serious reading of the performance threads on this and other forums before you change anything in your motor. Comparing two cams that are not comparable and using terms like "port and polished heads" tells me that you are about to make an expensive mistake. Do as much reading as possible (actually fun) on the forums about what others did with the same motor, what worked and what didn't, and what other components and machine work is needed for the different combinations.

The builders here on this and other forums really know their stuff and will do their best to help you put together a great motor, but you must know enough about it all to be able to ask the right questions and make the right calls.

There was a thread recently where a guy took a seller's advice without knowing what he was doing and ended up with a terribly performing motor (new cams needed big compression and he put them in a stock CR motor) and he had no money left over to redo it and get it right. It was really a sad thing to read. Don't let that happen to you. Do your homework!

Best advice you will ever receive.

The advice we freely dispense here is from almost 3 decades of 6-7 day work weeks of commitment to building H-D power.
No phoney-baloney advice here.

The EV27 is probably the most popular cam for an Evo, I certainly was very pleased with mine, with stock CR and Crane ignition. Sounds as if you had something else going on with your bike.

Not implying that at all, Scott. In fact, completely the opposite:

"The builders here on this and other forums really know their stuff and will do their best to help you put together a great motor...".

It is nonetheless vitally important to know how to define your needs and desired results as a customer to get the best outcome.
