Engine Mechanical TopicsDiscussion for motor builds, cams, head work, stripped bolts and other engine related issues. The good and the bad. If it goes round and around or up and down, post it here.
Just got through installing a set of Andrews 48H cams along with bearings, lifters and pushrods. Seemed to be making more noise than I thought it should so went back in there to recheck the work. Put it all back together and added a SE heavy breather. Changed my map for PCV after first time in. Now after I rode for about 5 miles when I take off from stop it puts out small cloud of whiteish/gray smoke. Sometimes it does it when I come to stop. Sometimes it does it when it starts up. Sometimes it doesn't do it at all. Everything was done by the book along with some videos I watched about this. Primed up fine everything seemed right but now this smoke. Engine only has a little over 17k mileage on it. Can some point me in the right direction please?
I guess I'm just thinking that a pushrod may be holding a vave open just a little, but don't know if this is possible. Can't really think of anything.
It isn't constant, is it?
If so, are you sure that you have the proper map for your PV? In my case the intake/exhaust opening and closing numbers were off which caused a similar issue.
