I just found a '96 EFI TourGlide with a whopping 38K on the clock that just happened to follow me home last week, and I think it needs a little more oomph. This thing is completely stock other than a K&N filter. Runs good, but could use a little more. After a little research, 95 and 96 ECM's are not compatible with any piggyback tuners but 97 and 98 ECM's can be had very reasonably on Ebay.
That being said I have a line on a Power Commander IIIand some jackpot slip-ons, but the cam is my biggest question. I'm not looking for a drag bike, something bolt in that pulls similar to my 96" twinkie with andrews 48's would be fantastic. My beloved S&S 561 isn't exactly a good fit for this, but I have been looking at the S&S 520, Andrews 13 & 23 and the V-thunder 2015. Is there something else I should be looking at, maybe with a compression bump? Suggestions?
BTW, I'm starting to wonder why it took me so long to get myself a bagger. This rolling couch is comfy!

Andrews EV27 is a great cam for an EVO bagger. Lots of torque down low where you need it and a big mid range.
No, duration is good but a little bump in comp will take it to another level. you can always deck the head .020 or even just a .030 head gasket will pick it up ie: 9.0 to 9.2 but if ya got the heads of might as well deck em.

I had a 96 Road King with EFI. I put in an EV27 and adjustable pushrods and loved the results. I ran the Cobra Fi2000 for fuel management and it worked well. Prior to that I had a Dobreck style piggyback tuner that worked but I could never tune out a stumble it had at about 60mph in 5th gear. The Cobra tuner took care of that stumble.
I have heard of a lot success stories about the ev27 but with the 36* intake close it will knock the stock compression down from ie: 9.0 to 8.4 in dynamic cr. That's all...
An Andrews EV 13 is a GREAT plug/play cam for Evo baggers, now that the Crane 300-2B is no longer.
A Wood 6, Andrews 27, 3, and 46, all require more squeeze.
A Comp Cams 2015 does look interesting, but have never installed/tuned any.

Scott,
how much truth is there to 95 and 96 ECM compatibility with a piggyback tuner such as the PCIII? I am getting some conflicting info. Are the early EFI EVO's a pain to tune?
The Andrews 13 did kind of stand out to me. In a stock EVO where would they be numbers wise? Would they break 70lb/ft torque with a K&N filter and slipons?
If I found a Crane 300-2B, it states not to use it on fuel injected bikes. I wouldn't think there would be an issue as long as you can control the fuel and ignition.......
