Hey guys, I'm looking to go to a big bore in my 06 fxdci. I plan on using the wiseco vt2711 10.5:1 pistons ( 3.875 bore ) with the feuling 543 cams, and having big boyz do my headwork, with just a port and polish, and high lift springs. Currently have a PCV, K&N AC, and V&H short shots. I wasn't able to find much about the 543 cams on here, but they seem to be a pretty wide power band from what I've seen, and they start lower. I'm not drag racing, I'm just an everyday rider, but this is my first engine build (as far as picking parts to use). Do you all believe this is a fairly good combination of parts for an all around street build? I plan on possibly using the PC auto tune, there aren't any reputable Dyno jet tuners around me. Thanks for your input, please don't flame me, lol.
Stock springs are adequate, no need for heavier springs. Why not bore to 98"? The extra TQ/HP is free. There is a world of cams to choose from; talk to Bean about cam selection.
The main reason I want to go to 95 is I want the spare cylinder wall space. I'm not totally set on 95 but 97 would be my max that's just my preference really cause I'm weird lol. The 543 lifts to 574 on the exhaust side and I think 543 on the intake and when I talked to the guys at big Boyz he highly recommended the high lift springs.
Also make sure they know about your exhaust too. I suspect they will want to talk you out of the SS if you want that torque to come on sooner. But, I'm also really biased. I was counting the days until I was finally able to get rid of my 2:2 and go with a 2:1 pipe. Personally, I think they look cooler but I really wanted to stop robbing my bike of torque so it was a win-win for me.
Your call but the OEM springs will handle .600" lift. No worries on cylinder spigot thickness; many 98" and 107" motors running with no issues. The initial naysayers have been proven wrong; the sky is not falling.
Yeah I know the short shots aren't for torque by any means lol. But I'm not a fan on the 2:1s. They're just not for me. I've considered a longer exhaust to help with backpressure but I'm not sure how much an extra 6 inches would help. I've also considered tunable baffles
Also I'm having a lot more trouble finding pistons for the 97 and 98 versus the 95.
Call Scott/Hillside Cycles or Kirby/VeeTwin Performance; they both build 98" motors and can bore your cylinders and fit piston/rings. Bean can probably do it as well.
Don't sweat the pipes. I ran Side Shots on a 95" motor and saw very little change in TQ/HP when I changed to a Propipe.
We hav 98" and 107" engines from the Middle East to New Zealand.
We've been boring to 3.935" here since 2006, and boring HD cylinders in general for a 1/4 century now.
Wiseco manufactures a kit just for us, that comes with a complete Cometic gasket set.
We set the ring gaps and install them on the pistons also.

How much would the work cost for a 98" if we used the wiseco pistons and rings but sent in our own cylinders but did the actual install ourselves?
