Engine Mechanical TopicsDiscussion for motor builds, cams, head work, stripped bolts and other engine related issues. The good and the bad. If it goes round and around or up and down, post it here.
Hey everyone. I'm in need of some help again. I have a 2001 Heritage with a Screamin Eagle 120R engine. Last season I had a knocking noise in the engine only when it was warmed up and it seemed to be coming from the front cylinder, so I took it to one of my local shops and they told me to replace the lifters and to put adjustable push rods in and run a straight 50 weight oil. So I did and the noise went away. This year I went to go for a ride on Christmas and the knocking noise came back. Once again the engine was warm. So I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction because I cant keep throwing money at this bike.
Without a video with audio of the engine running it's difficult to even start too tell you where to start. There's several reasons those 120's didn't carry a warranty from the factory.
I sound bite would be great. how many miles ago did you put in the new lifters and pushrods? Also what did you set the lifter preload to? Also when cold starting, how long do you let it warm up? What is the current mileage..?

The motor has only 2900 miles on it and I replaced the lifters around 2200 miles. I did four full turns on the push rods after I took out the play
