Engine Mechanical TopicsDiscussion for motor builds, cams, head work, stripped bolts and other engine related issues. The good and the bad. If it goes round and around or up and down, post it here.
I'm in the market to build a 107" for my 08 Fatboy. I'm going to stay with my stock heads for this year at least and possibly do head work next winter.
So far, I'm going to have my stock 96" bored to the 3.935" (give or take based on eventual pistons).
I'm leaning toward the T-Man 625 cam. I'm still undecided on pistons, but my machinist and I are leaning toward CP or Wesco.
I'm also honestly considering regearing so I can make 6th gear more "useable" at 60 mph.
I'm bored of the stock 96. It doesn't make any sense to me to wait 6+ months and a whole riding season on a tame 96 when I know I can do the 107. Will it be done "***** to the wall"? No, but it's better than I have now and it'll give me anot her reason to tinker next winter.
.625 cams will not fit under the OE spring.
A Kury 24D will, and at 10.2 cr(flatop 107", .030" head gasket)it'll run very well.
An S&S .570 would also be a good choice with a .040" gasket.

The OEM untouched head on a 107" cannot create the cylinder fill needed to allow that size powerplant to perform to it's full ability, by any means.
