I'm buying a 48 el case set it's really hard to find el parts so if I bought fl top end would it work? Pistons hugs heads.. Also would a fl flywheel work in the case also? Basically could I have a fl in a el case I didnt know if the cases were different from 61ci to 74ci
This will help you out http://www.terra-glide.net/panhead.html ,but I remember putting 74 jugs and pistons in a 61 makes 68inches which works very well. The 61,s would outrun the 74,s up till 3rd gear and a 68 would get them to a 100.Thats with a 68 shovel cam.
The 61"s had a 3 1/2" arm, and the big 74"s had a 3 13/32" stroke.
The 74" cylinder on the smaller stroke would've resulted in the piston being down in the hole by about 7/32".
Larger cubes, but with the ability to run on kerosene, unless the cylinder was mounted in a fixture and .218" removed from the cylinder, bringing it back to about 7.0 cr.
