Stroke length
Can you measure the stroke with the jugs and heads off . By measuring the depth of the piston?

Thus is what a guy is telling me about a motor. Looks like the reference point up top is his finger.?

If you are talking about your attached picture, it looks like the
jugs are on , and obviously
the heads are off
His fingers are being used to just hold the caliper. He's using it as a depth gauge...indicating 4-3/8 depth (4.375), in this case also "stroke"
