Fluttering Noise in Engine ???

Hey All,
A buddy of mine has a 2012 Limited (Bagger)
at 3000 rpm's in 5th gear , there is an intermittent fluttering noise
that is heard in all ranges of throttle... except deceleration...

I rode the bike for 30 miles and I cant figure it out...
Never heard anything like this...

Best Guess do describe it is: sounds like the exhaust is charging thru a check valve , once the check valve opens you hear a FLUMP FLUMP FLUMP FLUMP... "Pause" repeat.....

Has anyone experienced this or have any idea how to remedy it....

Sounds like you might be hearing ETC throttle plate - especially noticeable with heavy breather.
