See your top picture where your crank shaft comes out. Those two inlets aren't they were your cams go? One of mine has minor scaring where the cam rubbed do to vibration when the bearing came apart
I'm planning on sending the cylinders out to be bored out to 107", with new pistons. So that will solve that issue.
I wish I would have followed the advice given to me, and seafoamed it before I tore it down. At least then I'd know if that fixed the problem. Oh well.
Post #2, I've been around these for awhile. Basics and cheapest and easiest first. Just sayn'
Thanks. So the front cam plate bearing grenaded and the cam flopped around enough to nick inner bearing support.. Early style cam plate..
Yes sir... nicking the bearing support will that be an issue? Everything was replaced in my chest, and it still made the same noise it was making before the replacement with new gears and cams.

I would not worry about a scratch in the case. It would take considerable force to damage the case... I'd be more worried about the inner cam bearing, cam, lifters and cam chain. If the inner cam bearing has physical damage worry about the case. If not simply replace the bearing. Looks like you are likely replacing cams so you should have that covered along with the lifters. Only other thing is cleanliness.
Yes sir... it was flushed a few times, even ran a magnet through the oil checked the filter twice too.
It has new bearings, gears, oil pump , lifters and adjustable push rods too.. and yet it made the same noise it made before I replaced everything...
