Default S&S Standard Lifters

Call me a skeptic or maybe just cautious. I know S&S has a good reputation but the difference in the marketing/labeling between the standard and premium lifters has me curious. S&S themselves make it very clear that the premiums are Made in the USA but nowhere do even they make that claim on the standards. I asked the direct question on the Dennis Kirk site and they were honest in that the packaging states nothing. They say they are calling S&S to get clarification. I'll update their answer when I get it.

Like I said, I know they have a good rep and I have used S&S products in the past but let's be honest, the market is tight and profit is always a consideration. I'm just wanting to make sure this isn't one of those cases where the parts are manufactured elsewhere by the lowest bidder and assembled here. There IS a reason the standards are half the price of the premiums. I'd like to know what that reason is.

Like you pointed out in another thread. Would be interesting to know if these lifters are made in the same Mexican plant as the HD C lifters. Also, I have to assume the S&S standard lifters being made in Mexico is something new. Everyone used to say they were made in the US. How ironic the timing is. I was just ready to order a set today. May have to rethink that. Appreciate the information.

I just bought a set of the tappets and Im pissed that they are not american made. I hope they aren't made in the same plant, using the same material and process as the c lifters. I Should have check into it more before i bought them.
