Special tools for Rocker Base upgrade & Lifter Replacement
Engine Mechanical TopicsDiscussion for motor builds, cams, head work, stripped bolts and other engine related issues. The good and the bad. If it goes round and around or up and down, post it here.
(Keep torque wrench at 90 to length of extension added, so torque wrench doesn't misread value)
Great shot! Mine look a bit different than that as they have nuts as well thought they don't seem very useable on that side. Might be welding up a tool if I don't get something in time.
I think so. I had a real bad rattle, specially when hot, generally between 2400-2900 rpm, mostly at light loads. All I have now is a little ticking that is barely noticable, to let me know it's still running. The lack of noise is amazing.
Hey guys, I'm in there! One question, I was reading through the manual today and I did not see that it called for loctite on the the rocker base bolts, do you guys Loctite? The new breather bolts seem to already have some on them.
Like you, I've never seen mention of it in the manual. I personally don't use it on the rocker support bolts, but do on the rocker cover bolts. I have heard reputable engine builders say yes, and no lol.
New bolts come with some dry coating on them, not positive if it's thread locker or thread lubricant. If you REALLY want to cover all bases, new bolts are about $1 each at the dealer.

This is what I do also. I don't use loctite internally unless called for in the book, but do use blue on the cover bolts. Hopefully someone with more knowledge than myself will post their method.
