2002 FLHTCI 117 CI build

I am going to do a 2002 FLHTCI 117 build I was told by a few people the 07 and up heads are better than the 02 heads. I would like to know if these heads will work for me. The seller says they came off a 2014 FLHX the numbers on the castings are 17192-06B / 17193-06A.

Either head in stock form will be too small for a 117. They will need to be ported and have larger valves installed. Your best bet would be 110 heads but they could still use some work. As mentioned, select a head porter and go with his recommendation.

Bruce's suggestion of the 110" head is very good.
Our Stage III Super-Tour (1.940"), or our Stage IV, (2.02") is historically a very good option as well.

Thanks for replying Scott, Hillside is one of the places I was thinking about getting my heads from. So if I get them from Hillside do I need to send you a set of heads? Is it cheaper if I send you some heads? Where do I find out the cost of your heads? I am just starting to pick my parts for this build and there are so many to choose from my heads is spinning. I am looking to do a low to mid motor. From what I have read I know so far I want black diamond valves and cp-carrillo pistons.Also some who I respect a lot told me Redshift was the way to go for a cam. But from what I read it seems like Woods cams seem to be what most people use in street builds. The guy who told me about Redshift does lands speed running mostly.I am also going to try the P3R crank it is a little pricey but I it seem to be solid.Thanks,Jerry
