Default 2016 Cylinder Marks

Guys, I purchased a 2016 Ultra classic ltd this summer with 1600 miles. It has the harley 110 bolt on kit. While winterizing I scoped the walls and was surprised to see the black marks on both cylinders. I've shown the picts to 2 local dealers both said not to worry. Bike is under warranty still. I've never seen marks like this, never had a steel sleeved cylinder though. No smoke, lots of power, no oil consumption that I have noticed. Anyone else seen jugs like this?
Thanks for any ideas.
Ken

The bike will be under warranty for another year. You have pics at 1600 miles which you have shown to dealer techs that told you not to worry, so put another 5K miles on the motor and take some more pics. If there is a noticeable difference, push for cylinder replacement under warranty; those cylinders cannot be bored. If the motor isn't making noise, using oil or losing compression, ride it.

You would be worry free if you hadn't looked. Dealer already told you there was nothing to worry about, bike runs good, ride it and enjoy....never mind the what if, what if, gonna get ulcers...

Yes use to race MX 2 strokes, if you had the cylinder off the vertical marks would look less pronounced. Totally normal you can see the cross hatching going right through the marks. Run it.

i flipped out over these types of marks during break in... .. .bike eventually exploded in a huge ball of flames.... killed 6 or 7 people.

folks here told told me not to sweat it. they were right. life is good, and i no longer look in there.

I am a worrier by nature and have to apply a determined effort when cleaning the bike not to look too deep for issues. I try to work to the ethos of 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it!'

Did you scope the cylinders just because you can? Or is it good practice to do so as part of Winterizing?

Personally I too don't think you have anything to worry about. Rack up a few more thousand miles and have a look again if you're that worried seems a great plan as mentioned.
