Hey, I have a 98 FLSTF. The motor is stroked and very well built. I'm looking for a lifter that can handle higher rpm's with out collapsing... I just collapsed another lifter. This is my third time... I've been using S&S but they just can't handle high rpm's. I'm not trying to brag or anything like that. I just want reliability. S&S tells me that thier Evo lifters are only good to 6250 rpm... I would appreciate a little direction as to who makes a lifter that can handle it... Thanks..
Good luck on that quest. The problem is that the HD does not have a good record with any lifters lasting. We are down to two manufactures of lifters in the USA now, so they all come from one of the two of them regardless of who's name you buy them under. At one time both of these manufactures were the same company, but the company went BK and two different plants were purchase by two different groups.

I suspect that the S&S lifters with the limiters, would be the ticket.
You won't like the sound of a solid lifter in that Evo, as the aluminum engine will grow, and the steel pushrods not so much, creating noisey lash at full operating temps.

I thought about the noise and most likely will not be the fix. I have a set of limiters. I guess I could through them in. I'm Waiting for a return call from S&S. I spoke to them yesterday and tech department told me that they're lifters for The Evo's are only good to 6250. The thing that I don't get is that the rev limiter never cut in. I'm going to have to get with dynatek on that.. I didn't think that my rpm's were getting that high. I don't have a shift light and can't watch the tach when I'm doing a 1/4 mile hit like that... Just kinda shifting when I start to feel the fade of power. The build does jump up there very quickly..
if the motor is for racing & going to see 6200+,solids are a no brainer
True that Kirby.... But it's a built daily driver as well... Do you know any one that makes a better lifter for the street? S&S are my current and always have been... This is the 3rd time I've had issues with the S&S at high rpm's....
I bought the Hylift Johnson's (direct from them) in the Slow Leak variety since I've got some taught 600 lift springs.
Be advised, they recommend running a LOT less preload than the forum implies you should. I'm told, from them, between 40 and 60 thou. I run 75 thou and they're quiet as a church mouse.
