Engine Mechanical TopicsDiscussion for motor builds, cams, head work, stripped bolts and other engine related issues. The good and the bad. If it goes round and around or up and down, post it here.
How about this. 48 cam and have the barrels bored out to 107 and have the compression set at 10.1. This would give you a 10 to 15 % increase in power and displacement.
Again check your run out first.
You could add head work and the CR 575 cam when funds are available.
Probably better to just save up your dough until you can get the heads done before you make your next move w/the 103 and then your heads will more than likely need manual compression releases which will have to be pressed everytime you fire up your motor.
Either that or try to get heads that are set up for ACR's.
I am in the same boat but have purchased newer heads that are set up for ACR's and have also got the harness for them, Andrews 57H cams,
S & S 107 jugs and CP pistons. I need to get the heads staged II which is more or less $900, plus stiffer clutch spring which might entail getting a AIM/VPC new tune and maybe a new tuner since what I have now is the PC-V which is a piggy back as opposed to a flash tuner.
So yeah it all adds up real fast as has been said.
I think if I could afford it I would sell what I have thus far and just get a S & S 124 for another $2.5-3 K, but even then you'rte not completely done just because you get a bigger motor.
As is said, speed costs, how fast do you want to go?
Great deal , do it. Or you might just end up saving money and never get to enjoy.
And in time an other friend might have a bargain for a 107 or 110 kit. There is always better and more.
